Boating Education Matters

Be an Educated, Safer Boater

Too often new boaters, and even seasoned ones, believe boating is easy. (“I know how to drive a boat.”) Boating is a learned skill that can be as dangerous, or even more so, than driving a car.

For more than 100 years, we have provided boaters with unsurpassed education on the water, in the classroom and online. Our educational opportunities go beyond the basics to help you and your family be the best boaters you can be.

In-Person Boating Education

Feel more confident on the water and look more confident at the helm. Our hands-on training program helps you develop skills and techniques that will take your boat-handling and seamanship abilities to the next level, whether you boat on fresh or salt water.

Our experienced certified instructors combine classroom learning with on-the-water training. The combination of technical education and real-world techniques will get you, your family and friends on the water and into fun, safer and faster.

Instruction for Boaters, by Boaters

In the spirit of Charles F. Chapman, our volunteer instructors know that boating education matters. They have been there, done that, and they wrote the book on it. With a passion for boating and real-world experience, our certified instructors can help you be the best boater you can be.

Online Boating Education

Don’t let your busy schedule get in the way of your boating education and confidence on the water. Round out your boating skills with our online courses. There’s no substitute for in-person boating education, but enhancing that with online education will make you that much more confident and skilled at the helm.
